Quick Reads: Friendship and School life are your most prized possession. (Feat. dad)

Making cherish able moments.

Well, being a teenager, I have a vivid view of what friendship is like.

So, I was talking to dad, and he shared his short story after he started working.

My dad’s story.

One day, when you get successful in life, sitting on your office chair you think about those days of childhood and teenage years. Those beautiful moments where you pulled pranks, played truth or dare, the school rivalry, those moments with your homies/besties, interschool tournaments, scolding form your parents, that one best friend. Ah, such beautiful memories.

Then you open your phone and search for their numbers. Yes, found one! You call them and you talk about how good those days were. You share memories and then realize, “Ah, I wish I was able to enjoy a little more, just a little more.” you rush home and pull out your school photograph. Touch it with a deep feeling of nostalgia. You start naming you friends. You pull out a file with your marksheet. “Ah, I was quiet and obedient student.” You also realize that school life without those bastard friends is incomplete.

You start reliving those days with nostalgia. The Punishments, the pranks, the tournaments, the teachers, the life…

Then Stress catches up with you and you start thinking about all the problems you have like loans, deadlines, bill payments and worry about future. Then suddenly, a tear drop goes down your cheeks as you sit there smiling. “Those were the days” you say.

My dad’s last lines were, “Enjoy son, because school life never comes back. Keep no regrets, Enjoy!”

School friends will be there for lifetime, make sure you that you stay in contact with them.
